If this sounds like you and you are able to commit to 20-40 hours per week during office hours, then join the Chamber and France Education Northwest in fulfilling our mission while gaining hands-on work experience!

There are currently no available intern positions within the French-American Chamber of Commerce, but be sure to check our website as we will share every opportunity as soon as it comes up.

Internships with the French-American Chamber and France Education Northwest are unpaid, but do offer great opportunities for professional development and mentorship. As an intern, the resources at the Chamber are also available to you, enabling you to search for job opportunities, work on resumes, or meet with people who can assist you with your employment goals. 

General Duties and Responsibilities

Interns assist the Executive Director and the Executive Coordinator on the daily operations of the Chamber.

Interns participate in the various business and cultural activities of the Chamber: Bastille Day Celebration, Beaujolais Nouveau Festival, Soirée Prestige, French cheese & wine demonstration, etc.

The position also includes working with the organizations of the Chamber in France (UCCIFE, ACFCI and CCI’s).

 

Qualifications

- Fluency in French and English with a working understanding of American and French business practices and customs
- A willingness to work as part of a team emphasizing collegiality, mutual respect, communication and shared responsibilities.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities, with sometimes stressful deadlines.
- Ability to work independently handling crises and last minute problems efficiently and with sound judgment.
- Ability to learn new programs and use them efficiently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Internet
- Previous knowledge and use of Constant Contact and Typo 3 is a plus

 

General Expectations

What the Chamber expects of Interns:

  • To be committed to the mission of the French-American Chamber of Commerce and France Education Northwest
  • To have  individual goals for their internship and to seek ways to meet these goals
  • To be informed about projects they are working on and general Chamber activities
  • To be detail-oriented in their work in such a way that the supervisor and other interns can continue the project
  • To attend and provide assistance at 4-5 Chamber events during an average internship time period of 3 to 6 months. Attendance is expected at approximately 1 event per month
  • To attend meetings appropriate to the intern's work (as necessary)

What Interns can expect from the Chamber:

  • Experience working in a small, non-profit organization involved in promoting international understanding through programs, trade services and meetings
  • Receive mentoring in the achievement of their goals
  • Access to internationally-engaged business leaders, organizations and institutions in the Puget Sound area
  • Opportunity to complete projects that can be used in a work portfolio or for credit.
