French Fest 2021

French Fest 2021 was a wonderful success with 250 people attending the event.

M. Frédéric Choinière hosted the whole ceremony with his talent and Joie de Vivre!

For the official opening, we were fortunate to have M. Frédéric Jung, General Consul of France in San Francisco, Brandon A. Lee, General Consul of Canada in Seattle, Jérôme Pischella, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner - Consulate General of Canada in Seattle, Philippe Goetschel, Honorary Consul, Consulate of Switzerland in Seattle and Lisa Herbold, City of Seattle's Council Member.

We started this celebration of the Francophonie by honoring Quebec and you were able to learn more about this province of Canada thanks to Darijo Bosnjak, the Talent Acquisition and Relocation Team Lead at the Québec government office in Los Angeles, who was live to answer all your questions.

Following the conference, Made in France organized for us an exciting roundtable with the author and blogger Laura Nsafou, Mrs Roots.

Then, our four chefs invited to a gourmand escapade and we are happy to share with you their videos.

- First you can follow Chef Didier Poirier who prepared for you the Moules Marinières, this classic French dish from Brittany with fresh local Penn Cove Mussels, onions & spices in a white wine marinade.

- Then, all cheese lovers will be delighted to listen again Garrett Abel who shared with you his expertise on both French and local cheese and how to design a delicious cheese plat.

Finally, you had the choice between two desserts from two renowned Pastry Chefs.

- Pastry Chef Michel Lallaison showed us how to bake a beautiful French Apple Pie with local Pacific Northwest Apples

- Pastry Chef Orphée Fouano shared his recipe of the famous “Mousse au Chocolat à l’Ancienne”.

Following those flavorful recipes, Made in France organized for us an exciting roundtable with the author and blogger Laura Nsafou, Mrs Roots.

Then, we were very grateful to the Schools (French American School of Puget Sound, French Immersion School of Washington, Les Lilas French Bilingual Community School, North Seattle French School) and After School programs (Alliance Française de Seattle, French Bilingual Association, French Mornings Preschool) to join us, watch their film and participate to all the activities they prepared for us.

We ended the festivities with the Seattle-Nantes Sister City Association and a Kahoot game during which we learnt a lot about Nantes. That was so much fun!

Despite the circumstances, this 9th edition of our French Fest and for the first time virtual was a hit thanks to all of you.

We hope we can see you in person next year! French Fest 2022 will be on March, 20.
