French Fest 2022
French Fest 2022 was a wonderful success with more than 200 people attending the virtual event.
M. Frédéric Choinière hosted the whole ceremony with his talent and joie de vivre!
For the official opening, we were fortunate to have M. Frédéric Jung, General Consul of France in San Francisco, Mia Yen, General Consul of Canada in Seattle, Philippe Goetschel, Honorary Consul, Consulate of Switzerland in Seattle and Lisa Herbold, City of Seattle's Council Member.
We started this celebration of the Francophonie by honoring the city on Nantes, twin city of Seattle, with a virtual tour of the Chateau de Goulaine, organized by the Seattle-Nantes Sister City Association. After the tour, Chef Didier Poirier has prepared the beurre blanc sauce that was invented in the Chateau de Goulaine.
We then met Chris Engdahl, the brewer of the "Seattle-Nantes Sister City Beer" at Lantern Brewing, who gave us the secret behind this special beer that celebrate the friendship between Seattle and Nantes.
We welcomed later three French Chefs. Pastry Chefs Laurence Boris and Orphée Fouano, and Chocolatier Anne-Laure Ropars who shared with us some of their secret specialties.
Following those gourmet escapades, the French schools and after school programs existing through the Greater Seattle have prepared activities & games around the theme of gastronomy. We were very happy to welcome The French American School of Puget Sound (FASPS), The French Immersion School of Washington (FISW), Les Lilas French Bilingual Community School, North Seattle French School (NSFS), The Alliance Française de Seattle!
Finally, we enjoyed the Beau Goss Band featuring an original song in French!
