About the Portland Event

Beaujolais Nouveau wine is released at midnight each year on the third Thursday of November. Its arrival as the first wine of the harvest sparks worldwide celebrations. We host simultaneous events in Seattle and in Portland on the third Friday of November to commemorate this special tradition. Both events take place on November 22, 2019 this year.

The 18th Annual Beaujolais Nouveau festival will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019, at 6pm at the Heathman Hotel in downtown Portland. Culinary partner, Headwaters at the Heathman, under the leadership of Executive Chef Michael Campbell and James Beard award-winning chef Vitaly Paley, will provide the gourmet buffet throughout the Heathman Hotel's mezzanine and ground level Library. Headwaters is one of a handful of Oregon restaurants that has earned Leadership designation in the James Beard Foundation’s Smart Catch program, which promotes sustainability of the worldwide seafood supply chain.

The event, one of the largest of its kind on the West Coast, will feature tastings hosted by prestigious French-connected vintners and importers, including Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2019, WillaKenzie EstatePacific RimRuby VineyardAnne Amie, Terroirs Originelsand Division Winemaking Company. Guests will sample spirits including Hardy Cognac and Balinoff Vodka (in a signature cocktail, the Perrier Greyhound). Look for many premiere French and American brands in seafood, meats, breads, cheeses, desserts and more.

Beyond creating a fun atmosphere to celebrate French culture, this event is an important fundraiser for the FACC PNW and its Portland partner, the Alliance Française of Portland. All funds raised at this event directly benefit the organizations’ nonprofit missions. We hope to see you on November 22!
